Hornby Hall

Two miles of south bank brown trout and grayling fishing which flows from St. Ninians to Watersmeet. There are several good pools and some fast flowing runs.

Please ring and book a ticket in advance.

Cost:
Brown Trout: £29 per day
Grayling: £6 per day

When Available:
Brown trout fishing is available from the 15th March to the 30th September. Grayling fishing is available throughout the winter months.

Description of beat:
The lower end of the River Eamont is famous for the quality of the brown trout. There are two beats, one flows alongside the ancient church of Ninekirks and has several good pools. The other is at Udford which is wider and flows more slowly into the Eden.


Rules 

  • No dogs.
  • A maximum of two fish may be kept per day then it is catch and release.
  • Fly fishing only.
  • Use the designated car parks.
  • Do not drive along the river banks.
  • Fishing on the south bank only.

Access

Go first to Winderwath to collect a day ticket where you will be given directions to the river.

Winderwath is just off the A66, 5 miles east of Penrith, Cumbria. Take the junction from the A66 signposted for Culgaith, turn left on to the B6412, then first right into the Winderwath private drive.  There is no access by car along the river bank.
